The eve of Obama's inauguration

Tonight we are celebrating, with a giant bottle of champagne, several wonderful events: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President Bush's last day in office, and the eve of Barack Obama's inauguration.

I was so emotional watching the news and the profiles of several people who traveled to Washington to witness this historic event, including a 100 year old black man who used to pick cotton and is now in D.C. for the inauguration.

I am so proud to have been a part of electing this amazing man to office and I hold great hope for the future of our country. I am overwhelmed that my son will grow up with President Obama in the White House. Here's to a life changing day tomorrow! Cheers!

Teddy wanted to get in on the act. Of course, he didn't have any champagne but he really wanted to hold onto the glass.

First Solid Foods

Shana was really anxious to start Teddy on solid foods so we tried a little organic rice cereal tonight. It wasn't really a success. He probably got more food on his face and bib than in his mouth, but it was pretty fun trying. His tongue was pushing most of the food out, so we will try again in a couple days.

Playin' is what I like to do!

Teddy has discovered the Exersaucer. We have tried it out several times over the past few weeks, but this was the first time he really got it.

Lookin' Cute

Shana's Aunt Mary Ann sent Teddy the most adorable outfit for Christmas. He was wearing it this past weekend and was just too cute not to take a picture of. He looks a little stunned but he really does love the outfit too. Enjoy!

4-Month Doctor Visit

We had a good four month check-up last week (other than the 3 shots - ouch!). Here are the vital stats:

Height - 27.5 inches (95th percentile)
Weight - 16.5 pounds (75th percentile)
Head Circumference - 42.5 centemeters (50th percentile)

Yes, that's right! Teddy has grown 2 inches and gained over two pounds in the last two months. That means that when he is eighteen he will be...carry the two...um, I have no idea but I'm sure he will be a really tall kid!

Shana was very sad that the doctor didn't encourage her to start Teddy on solid foods because she was totally ready, food mill in hand, to make baby food. Not to mention that the formula Teddy is on is wicked expensive! Oh, well. We hope the next appointment in two months will bring better food news.
