First Time Ice Skating

So excited to go ice skating!

Having fun with  Daddy.

Happy New Year!

One of our favorite parts of Chinese New Year is shopping on Di Hua Street. This is where the locals shop for food for the New Year's celebration. Our favorites are candy and egg custard.

Street sausages.

Yummy cherries!
Tons and tons of candy!

Australia: New Year's Eve

Jeannie got us AMAZING tickets for an event right down on Sydney Harbor. In fact, there was a barge with fireworks right in front of us and we had a spectacular view of the bridge.
Here we are getting ready for the fireworks to begin!

It's getting darker!
We didn't take many photos of the fireworks because a picture just wouldn't do them justice.  We preferred to just watch but I simply love this picture of Michael and Teddy watching together.

This was a truly spectacular trip not only because we got to see so many amazing thing, but because we got to share it without our outstanding Aussie family.  We love you all very much!

Australia: Museum, Gardens, and the Opera House, oh my!

We had a wonderful adventure to the Australian Museum in downtown Sydney.  We had heard there were dinosaurs so Teddy was very excited to meet them!
I had wanted to have my picture taken with a koala but the stars just weren't aligned (i.e. they were all asleep) until I found this stuffed one at the museum.  That counts, right?

When we finally found the dinosaurs, Teddy was too afraid of them and very concerned about the fact that they are no longer alive.  In telling Irene about them later, he said in a very sad tone, "They all died."

After the disappointment of not meeting actual dinosaurs, Teddy really enjoyed the pre-school room and played with puppets, dress up clothes, and stuffed animals.

After the museum we walked to St. Mary's Cathedral, Syndey's largest church.  We caught the end of Mass and then had the opportunity to walk around and see the Christmas decorations.

We then walked to the Botanical Garden, which I think is a must visit for anyone traveling to Sydney.  Amid the beautiful gardens, I was totally caught off guard by the gigantic bats hanging from many trees.

This is the view from the Garden out over the harbor.  What a stunning view!

Teddy and Michael wanted to sit on Mrs. Macquarie's chair overlooking the harbor.  Folklore has it that Mrs. Macquarie used to sit on the rock and watch for ships from sailing into the harbor.

We sat down to rest for a few minutes and this was our view from the grass!
We decided to walk around the Opera House and Teddy really wanted his picture taken on the steps.  Teddy never wants his picture taken, so we were thrilled to do it.  Isn't he so cute!

For dinner, we walked to the Rocks and indulged in a few beers (strickly milk for the little one) at a fun beer garden.

Australia: Little Mr. Manly!

We took the ferry out to Manly to meet Scuba on another picture perfect beach day! When we arrived at the ferry terminal, I just loved this little sign and thought it was so perfect for Teddy.

After having a lunch of meat pies, chips, and beer, we walked along the beach and snapped this great picture!

Scuba then drove us to North Head, home of the protected Bandicoot, to see the stunning views of Sydney from the harbor.

Michael was missing Taiwan so much that he wanted to take an Asian inspired picture!
