Teddy is Six!

Space Cake

About six months ago Teddy said he wanted a "space cake" for his birthday. When I asked "what's a space cake?", he told me to go on Pinterest and type "space cake." Oops! Looks like I've been on Pinterest too much lately. In any case, I did go on Pinterest and this is what I found. Teddy approved and I can't wait to see his face tomorrow at his school birthday party. He shares this birthday week with another classmate so they are going to celebrate together at school tomorrow.

Teddy had an awesome birthday party with his classmates. Here is his space cake with candles.

First Words

Ripley said his first word, "Dada," a few weeks ago but we have been trying to see if he really said the word or if he just made the noise.  The first time he said it, he was looking at Michael in an attempt to get his attention while Michael had his back turned. 

He has said "Mama" a few times too!  Usually, it is when he is upset and wants something - like in the middle of the night - or when he wants to be picked up and will crawl to my feet.

Ripley may have also said "Teddy" or "Brother" (at least in the baby form) a few times but we are still waiting to see.

First Day of First Grade!

The Pope Visits Seoul

It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Pope Francis in downtown Seoul in August. We were so thrilled to be able to catch a glimpse of him, although we didn't have tickets to his Mass. Still, how awesome to say that we saw the Pope!

Teddy had the best seat in the house.

We were pretty far away from the Pope, but right in the center of the photograph is a white line.  This is the top of the Papal golf cart.  Pope Francis is standing in the cart (no bulletproof glass needed here) and waving.  The pictures aren't great but it was amazing to see him in person.

Teddy's US Baseball Party

My Mom always does an amazing job of throwing birthday parties for Teddy.  She always threw me the BEST birthday parties growing up too!  This year was no exception.  She even swallowed her geographic pride and had a Yankees themed birthday party.  It was such a wonderful get together with family.

Since it was close to my birthday too, I got to celebrate with presents and cake.

I got a beautiful kimono from Japan from Lynn and Pete, and a totally fun leopard print apron from Phil and Nancy (Mom and Dad!).  Why not wear them together, right?
