Shana in Boston!

I had a wonderful day in Boston visiting some of my favorite girls!

This is Nikki St. Amand who I lived in Northern Ireland with. She now lives in Texas and was in Boston for a conference.

I also got a chance to visit with my former boss from Taipei American School, Grace Cheng. She is now in the admissions office at Harvard University.

I also got to see three dear friends from high school, two I hadn't seen since graduation. For the left to right is Jen Hornsby, me, Lauren Schaad, and Jen McNabb.

I also visited the Make Way for Ducklings brass ducks in the public garden. They were wearing bruins jerseys!

No visit to Boston is complete without a trip to Cheers!

Dave Attell

At the beginning of the summer, we decided to head to the famed Hu Ke Lau for a comedy show. Luckily, one of our favorite comics, Dave Attell, was there and we had a great time!

Aerodrome with Papa

We had a fun visit to the Rhinebeck Aerodrome with Papa, a Christmas gift! It was so fun to spend time with him and to see some really cool vintage airplanes.

And the cicada!

Happy 70th Birthday, Aunt Mary Ann!

This summer we got to celebrate my Aunt Mary Ann's birthday in Butler, PA. It was so fun to be with family and to celebrate my amazing Aunt!

Not only did we get to toast to the birthday girl, but Teddy got to hang out with his beautiful little cousins, Marin and Maggie!

They enjoyed Patrick and Jillian's backyard including the playhouse and the slide, which was turned into a water slide for the day!

Baseball in Pittsburgh!

Shana's family lives in Butler, PA outside of Pittsburgh and when we visited them this summer we all went to a Pirates game together.  Before the game we went down to the riverfront to look around.  It was a beautiful day!

Hanging out with the Russell family!

We were so luckily to make it back to the US to celebrate May's 13th birthday, a true milestone!

May is a wonderful baker and make her own birthday cake. It was delicious and we all think that she is on her way to a professional career.

It was so wonderful to see our nieces and nephews, and to celebrate being together again.  Here are a few pictures of the boys!

And let's not forget the girls. It's so much fun to buy presents for everyone when we travel, and we were delighted that the girls liked the dresses we got for them in Cambodia!

And Teddy and Michael, who love cake and a good celebration too!

Last Goodbyes

It was difficult to say goodbye to so many wonderful friends from Taipei American School.

With Nancy Chien, one of the amazing college counselors.

With Erin Keene, one of the lower school counselors who started with Shana and knew Teddy from around school.

With the amazing Catalina Guzman, another college counselor.

One of my besties, Royce Mussman, with a photo bomb moment by Lori!

With the lower school counselor, Lisa Adams, who was an amazing lower school resource and shopper!

With one of my closest friends, Darby Sinclair. I'm so going to miss being in an office with this hysterical lady!

With the incomparable Coach Stacey Johnsen, one of my closest friends. The basketball season won't be the same without her!

Teddy with his BFF Cayden Kowalec!

With my amazing sister wife, best friend, and softball wife Carlee Kowalec. What am I going to do without these amazing people every day?

Amazing Doris

Doris was our nanny (amah) from the Philippines who worked with us for over a year. We hired her to help manage our house and to take care of Teddy before we got home from work, but she quickly became a very significant part of our Taiwan family. We will miss her endlessly but we know that she will always be a part of our lives.

Goodbye to the TAS Lunch Ladies

Two of my favorite people at TAS were Susie and Claudia, the snack bar lunch ladies. They always brightened my day with a big smile and a hello. Every Friday, Claudia would give me a huge which was always the highlight of my week.

Teddy's Goodbye to his KA Class

Teddy wanted to say a very special goodbye to his KA Super Stars Class.  We ordered dinosaur cupcakes (because Teddy loves dinosaurs) to thank his friends for a wonderful year!

We then gave Teddy the camera so he could take pictures of all of his special friends!
