Camp Taiwan

This weekend we went with a big group of TAS faculty members and their children to Camp Taiwan for Family Camp! We had a wonderful time hanging out with all of the kids, playing games, doing activities, and being together.

Teddy loved archery.  The expression on his face is priceless!

We then tried the climbing wall.  Teddy got into the harness and helmet without a fuss.

Teddy climbed a few feet off the ground and then he was done.

Daddy climbed all the way to the top three times.  The last time up he went in his bare feet just to show how hard core he is!

Not to be out done, Mommy climbed to the top too!

Teddy liked balancing on the slack line too.

One of the parents brought their tiny kittens to camp and Teddy loved holding one of them.

The boys did bug art.

We tried to get Teddy to do the zip line but he wouldn't even get into the harness.  Oh well!  Michael and I both enjoyed the zip line.

Michael did a great job with archery.

And so did Shana!  We are totally doing this again this summer!

A few more spectacular Borneo sunsets!

Borneo!

After spending a week in Taiwan with Shana's parents, we all traveled to Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo for a week. We were all looking forward to enjoying some quality time together, playing in the pool, and eating some amazing food. We spent the first half of our trip at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria resort about 45 minutes outside Kota Kinabalu. We spent three nights doing nothing other than relaxing by the pool, enjoying the sound of the waves, and eating amazing food!

Teddy loved the pool at the resort.  He got to do a lot of splashing and playing with the other children.

Michael got right in on the action and played ball and hide-and-seek with Teddy!

There was a lot to do on the beach too, but it was really hot so we stuck to the shade.

Absolutely amazing sunsets from the resort every night.
The resort had an orangutan sanctuary and we enjoyed a morning of learning about orangutans.
The Grannan and the Russell family at the entrance to the sanctuary.

We got up close and personal with a few of these amazing creatures!

The family at the Rasa Ria!

We then went into Kota Kinabalu city for a few nights to enjoy a more lively setting.

We took a boat out to one of the islands and found this spectacular beach.  That's Teddy in the lower left hand corner!

Fun with the family at the beach!

As we were going to dinner one night, we stumbled across this amazing sunset and a row of fishing boats.

A closer view of the fishing boats.

On the boardwalk by the fishing boats was an amazing wet market selling fruits, veggies, and tons of fish!

I totally fell in love with the color of these spices.

We then went to the Sabah history museum and got to tour all of the different style of huts on Borneo.
A spectacular vacation with Nanny and Papa. Where are we going next year?!?!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a wonderful two part Easter celebration - one with our TAS family and Shana's parents and one with our little family.

We were invited over to the Lowman's house for a traditional egg hunt. Kristen Lowman did an amazing job organizing the food, the hunt, and the kids, given our very limited supply of Easter paraphernalia.

Teddy is enjoying some imported Nerds candies during the hunt.

Looking for eggs under the bridge.

Checking out the loot with Nanny.
About two weeks later, on Easter day, we celebrated by dying Easter Eggs.  This was the first time that Teddy got to do this!
Having fun dying Easter eggs.

Shana and Teddy putting stickers on the dyed eggs.

Our beautiful Easter egg creations!
