Through the Sunshine Committee at TAS, I was able to take a pineapple cake making class at the famous Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry!
We got to make the flaky cake batter and were given the pineapple filling (how to make it is a secret). Of course, I had to take a photo of the adventure in true Asian style.
After making 10 cakes, we got to package them in paper and box them up. Very professional!
After making the cakes, we got to go into the museum to learn about the role that pineapple cakes play in typical Taiwanese traditions. One of the big ones is weddings, so I got to dress up like a traditional Taiwanese bride. I'm lifting the veil from over my huge headdress to choose my husband!
