Dihua Street at Chinese New Year, 2013

We had another wonderful Chinese New Year celebration in Taiwan.  While we were gone for the actual holiday, the weeks leading up to the event are so much fun - like the weeks leading up to Christmas.  One of our favorite things to do is go down to Dihua Street to see local people preparing for the holiday.

Welcome to the chaos!  The street is packed with people who are buying good, decorations, and gifts before CNY.
We decided to go down to Dihua Street with our good friends, the Kowalec family.  Here is a picture of tiny Cayden riding on his father's shoulders through the maze of people.
This photo was too cute not to post.  Here at the boys with a life sized Chinese sausage.
I love all of the people selling goods.  I don't know what this person is selling, but she is having a great time!

Here is our little friend Kaia getting a high five from a woman wearing a shrimp hat and selling bins of dried shrimp.

This guy was sitting on a ladder in the middle of the crush of people shouting into a microphone about something he was selling.  Too fun!
People selling dried meats.
These women were selling dried fruits and they were so excited to see Teddy and Cayden come by their stall.  They gave them a ton of samples and the boys thanked them with high fives and a few photos.
Dried fruits!
Teddy got to take $100NT to buy himself candy.  He carefully considered his choices as he only had a little bit of money but he was pretty excited to be in the driver's seat!
Daddy and Teddy walking through the crowd.  Teddy had the best seat in the house!
