Pancake Rocks

We camped next to the beach in a very remote part of the Western coast, called Punakaiki. All night we got to hear the waves! The next morning, the boys went out onto the beach to look for rocks (and some seaweed). So beautiful!

We then took the short drive to the conservation area.

It was a short walk through the forest to the ocean.

We found the pancake rocks, which are layers of limestone. Geologists don't know how this was formed. What a beautiful mystery!

We waited and waited for high tide to see the famous blowhole but it never happened. I guess we will just have to come back.

For lunch, We went to the Monteith's Brewery. Teddy declared is as his second favorite restaurant in the world, behind Shake Shack.

Mikey loves beer and ribs!

On our way to our next stop, we happened upon Ross, which is an old gold mining town. When in Rome! We learned how to pan for gold and the boys even found some!

We then took our skills to the River but it didn't go as well as the first try. Oh well!

Of course, we had to take some funny pictures!
